Woodblock printing in Japan was used for printing books, but is nest know for the beautiful art pieces that were created, including the classic piece created by the artist Hokusai. Artist Tomoko Murakami will lead you on a discovery of Mokuhanga.
Participants learn to carve the woodblock, use Japanese carving tools, and print with
water-based ink on Japanese paper. Participants will cut their own woodblocks and create a small edition of multicolor prints. All levels are welcome.
