Ohara School of Ikebana is distinguished by its respect for the use of floral materials in their natural forms. Plant materials are arranged into asymmetrical designs with the use of “empty” space as an essential feature in the composition. Harmony among the materials, the container and the setting is crucial.
The Ohara School of Ikebana of Northern California will be hosting a flower exhibit on Thursday, November 16. Come and watch demonstrations by Kayoko Suiyo Fuijimoto, Grandmaster of the Ohara School (she is 97 years old and has been teaching for over six decades), along with her students. Learn more about the art of Ikebana during APEC week!
