Spice of Tottori: Rā-tu-zyan (Non Oil Rā-yu) Sushi Workshop

Join Naoko, the owner of Hutong Shokudo in Tottori, for a hands-on workshop where you will learn to make delicious sushi rolls using her special secret chili oil, perfect for recreating at home anytime.

Hutong Shokudo is a cozy restaurant that serves heartwarming Chūka ryōri (Chinese dishes with Japanese taste) made from local Tottori ingredients and flavors.

During the workshop, participants will learn expert tips and techniques for preparing flavorful and mouthwatering sushi rolls. Please let us know if you have any food allergies.

Tottori Wooden Handle Workshop: Japanese Petty Knife Craft

Join Asakura for a hands-on workshop and gain a craftsman’s insight while creating a wooden handle for a Japanese petty knife. This versatile knife is ideal for precise tasks such as mincing herbs, pulling, and cutting, and works perfectly as a secondary knife alongside your main knife.

Asakura, a self-taught craftsman with a creative spirit since childhood, enjoys working free from formal design constraints and pushing the boundaries of woodworking. His goal is to “make anything from wood.”

In this workshop, participants will learn basic wood carving techniques using Tottori wood, along with design principles for crafting a knife handle. All materials are provided, and each participant takes home their completed handle and petty knife. The workshop is beginner-friendly and suitable for all skill levels.
