Traditional Japanese Paper Layering (Ocho-Tsugigami ・王朝継ぎ紙づくり)

Join us to learn this traditional paper craft developed centuries ago, during the Heian period of Japan.  This class covers the fundamental techniques of the craft, where we will discuss and learn how to tear and layer the washi pieces. The class will use a basic pattern included in the class kit, and also create a fan embellishment for the card.

In this workshop, Kathy Yoshida of Hanko Designs will guide us through crafting handmade greeting cards from Hanko Designs’ greeting card kit with two different embellishment elements. The first element that will be covered is the layering of decorative Japanese washi paper using the technique of Ocho-Tsugigami, along with an origami fan decorative element.
