  • Japanese Cultural and Community Center of Northern California 1840 Sutter Street San Francisco, CA, 94115 United States (map)

$60 Center Members, $70 General Public

We’re pleased to bring our second Tezukuri Handcrafts sewing workshop with Katie Furukawa, owner of Old River Design Co., with our Origami Bag Sewing Workshop. Learn to make a new style of grocery tote bag! The secret sauce in how this bag comes together is all in how you fold your fabric before sewing, which is why it is called an “origami” bag. Your instructor, Katie, will guide you on how to create this bag in a couple of hours. All tools and materials are included in your registration fee.

Skill Level: Beginner

Participants must have completed the Introduction to Sewing workshop or can demonstrate proficiency with basic operation of a sewing machine before the workshop date. Space is limited in these workshops due to the number of sewing machines that are available. If you prefer to bring and use your own sewing machine, please indicate what make and model machine you have when registering. Please e-mail us at programsevents@jcccnc.org if you have questions about our workshop requirements.
